St. John’s to Face Seton Hall for Midweek Contest

The Johnnies took down Seton Hall on Sept. 27 in four sets, 3-1
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's volleyball team will make the short trip to South Orange, N.J., to face off against Seton Hall for a midweek BIG EAST contest.
First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. The match will be streamed on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports. Live stats will be available on StatBroadcast.com
The Red Storm and the Pirates will battle for the first time in Walsh Gymnasium since Sept. 26, 2021, where the Johnnies took the match in four sets.
St. John's comes into the contest with a 12-2 conference record and is in a three-way tie for first place with No. 15 Creighton and RV Marquette. The Johnnies have won nine of their last 10 contests.
With wins over Providence and UConn last weekend, the Johnnies clinched their second straight BIG EAST Tournament berth and their fifth bid in the last six seasons. The squad also secured its second straight 20-win season and the 13th in program history. This season marks the fastest to 20 wins since the 2018 campaign when the program went 23-12.
The Red Storm is coming off a perfect 2-0 week where they earned straight-set sweeps over Providence and UConn. St. John's has now earned nine conference sweeps, the most since 2019.
Due to their play against the Friars and Huskies, Erin Jones and Ludovica Zola were tabbed to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Nov. 6.
Jones was previously tabbed to the weekly honor roll on Sept. 11 and was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 16. The sophomore logged 25 kills at a 37.8 hitting percentage with 27 assists, nine digs and three blocks. Jones earned double-doubles in both matches.
Against Providence, the Albuquerque, N.M., product racked up 14 kills at a 42.3 percent success rate with 10 assists. When playing UConn, the right-side hitter tallied her 10th double-double of the season. Jones accumulated 11 kills at a 33.3 percent clip and 17 helpers.
Zola emerged as a force in front of the net for the Johnnies, as she earned her second-straight and third weekly honor roll selection of the season. The Milan, Italy native registered nine total blocks across the weekend. The middle blocker notched her third straight match with six or more blocks against Providence, registering six total at two blocks per set.
Lucrezia Lodi totaled 23 kills, 14 digs, five blocks and two aces last weekend for St. John's. During the program's sweep over Providence, the sophomore notched a team-high 15 kills at a 56.5 hitting percentage, which is the third highest in BIG EAST matches this season. The outside hitter also posted eight digs, and three block assists.
