The Canadian striker continues to rack up postseason accolades
QUEENS, N.Y. – St. John's men's soccer forward Nicolas Fleuriau Chateau continued to rack up postseason honors as he secured Second Team Academic All-American honors by College Sports Communicators (CSC), formerly known as CoSIDA, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
Fleuriau Chateau also had a stellar year in the classroom and on the pitch, working towards a degree in criminal justice. The Johnnies' leading scorer has boasted a 3.8 cumulative GPA during his time with the Red Storm.
The Ottawa, Ontario native became just the sixth player in program history to secure Academic All-American honors by CSC/CoSIDA. Fleuriau Chateau joins Jeff Stepan (2006-07), Matt Groenwald (2003-05), Chris Wingert (2001-03), Patrick Lonergan (2002) and Jeff Stoklosa (2001).
One of the top goal scorers in the country, Fleuriau Chateau also secured his third postseason honor last week, earning an All-ECAC Second Team selection after earning spots on the All-BIG EAST First Team and United Soccer Coaches All-Region Second Team after an improbable run last season.
In his 17 appearances this season, the Canadian striker rattled off 14 goals (7th in NCAA) and one assist for 29 points (18th). The redshirt junior concluded the year in a four-way tie for fifth on St. John's single-season goals leaderboard, matching Medufia Kulego (1996), Shalrie Joseph (2000) and Simone Salinno (2003) with 14 on the year.
The Ottawa, Ontario native picked up three weekly honors, including a BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week accolade following his final brace of the year in the team's regular-season finale against Creighton (Oct. 28). The Canadian striker also logged two-goal outings against Rutgers (Aug. 28) and Columbia (Oct. 3).
Fleuriau Chateau also finished the season ranked 88th in TopDrawerSoccer.com's Division I Postseason Top 100.
