Women’s Golf to Begin Spring Slate at Columbia Classic in Florida

Red Storm will compete in 54-hole event at Duran Golf Club
QUEENS, N.Y.— The St. John's women's golf team will get its spring season underway at the Columbia Classic in Melbourne, Fla.
The three day 54-hole event will run from Feb. 11-13 at the Duran Golf Club, a 6,357 yard links style track just off the coast of the Atlantic Ocean.
The Red Storm will be compete against a field of 14 teams- Columbia, Texas Tech, Tulsa, Notre Dame, Princeton, Penn State, Richmond, Old Dominion, Dartmouth, Boston University, Seton Hall, UAlbany and Youngstown State. Additionally, 13 individuals will participate in the tournament.
Live results will be available on GolfStat throughout each 18-hole round over the three days.
The Red Storm line-up will feature- Jessie Kweon, Karen Beglin, Cloe Clocchiatti, Amy Kim and Angelic Kusnowo. Senior Jill Beglin will compete in the event as an individual.
In the fall the squad played in four events, notching its best finish in its final time out at the Lehigh Invitational on Oct. 24-25. The Johnnies came in third over the two days with four players placing in the top-10. Jessie Kweon came in third at Saucon Valley Country Club's Grace Course.
Last year, Kweon paced the Red Storm squad earning a spot on the 2021-22 All-BIG EAST team and garnered the conference's sport excellence award, given to one student-athlete in each BIG EAST sponsored sport for exemplary efforts in the classroom.
The Columbia Classic will mark the first of five events for the Johnnies this spring.
