NEW YORK (March 3, 2023) – St. John's catcher Tate Ballestero earned a spot on the 2023 Buster Posey Award Watch List, presented to the nation's top catcher by the Wichita Sports Commission, as announced by the organization on Friday.
The Morristown, N.J., native joined 64 other players on the list alongside two fellow BIG EAST plate protectors, Georgetown's Owen Carapellotti and Xavier's Matt DePrey,
Ballestero is coming off an All-BIG EAST Second Team selection in 2022 after hitting a team-high .333 with 35 RBIs, 18 doubles, two triples and three home runs. The redshirt junior has already driven in six runs through seven games this season, adding a two-bagger and a home run to his total.
