Junior third baseman slashed .462/.500/.769 in final series of the regular season
NEW YORK – St. John's baseball third baseman Jayder Raifstanger was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference announced on Monday. The recognition also marked the ninth straight week that at least one Johnnie has earned BIG EAST weekly honors.
Raifstanger started all three games in the Red Storm's final regular-season series against Butler and turned in a dominant weekend at the plate. The junior went 6-for-13 with his third home run of the season, first in BIG EAST play, along with a double, a walk, three runs scored and a team-best six RBIs. He slashed .462/.500/.769 over the series while helping power
St. John's to its seventh straight conference series victory, marking the second time since 2018 the Johnnies have won every conference series.
The Great Barrington, Mass., native opened the weekend with a 2-for-5 effort and a run scored before delivering a breakout performance in game two. Raifstanger finished a triple shy of the cycle, going 4-for-5 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and a career-high six RBIs. His three-run blast in the third inning gave the Johnnies the lead, while a pair of RBI singles helped secure a 7-2 victory.
His efforts helped St. John's clinch a share of the 2026 BIG EAST Regular Season title and secure the top seed in the conference tournament. The honor marks Raifstanger's first league recognition of the season. He was last named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on March 3, 2025.
Raifstanger and the top-seeded Red Storm will travel to Mason, Ohio for the first round of the 2026 BIG EAST Tournament, presented by JEEP, on May 20. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. against fourth-seeded Creighton on ESPN+.
