Women’s Golf Leads After Opening Day at St. John’s Invitational

Jessie Kweon shoots 3-under, 68, to lead all players
HASTINGS ON HUDSON, N.Y. - The St. John's women's golf team leads after the first round of its home invitational at Saint Andrew's Golf Club.
The Red Storm shot 7-over as a team on a sunny Monday afternoon to sit in front in the 11-team tournament. Columbia sits in second trailing by three following a 10-over cumulative team score in Hastings on Hudson, N.Y.
Jessie Kweon leads all players after shooting an impressive 3-under, 68, in her opening 18 holes. The graduate student posted three birdies on the front nine and one on the back, only bogeying a single hole to take a one-stroke advantage heading into tomorrow's final round.
Cloe Clocchiatti logged a nice outing for the Johnnies and is currently in a deadlock for third place at 1-over, 72. The senior hailing from Italy was particularly strong on the par-3's, logging a tournament-best a 2.6 stroke average.
In her lowest round of the spring, Laia Barro shot a 2-over, 73, sinking two birdies on the back nine to return to the clubhouse tied for eighth place.
Karen Beglin and Amy Kim, who is competing as an individual, finished the day at 7-over, 78. Angelica Kusnowo follows just one stroke behind her teammates.
Individual Jill Beglin rounded out the day a 15-over, 86, at Saint Andrew's Golf Club.
Tomorrow's final round will begin at 9:30 a.m. from Saint Andrew's Golf Club in Westchester. Live results will be available on GolfStat.
