Jailene DeJesus Called Up to Puerto Rico National Team Camp

The sophomore appeared in all 19 games for the Red Storm in 2022
QUEENS, N.Y.- St. John's women's soccer midfielder Jailene DeJesus has been called up to the Puerto Rican national team camp on April 8-12.
DeJesus will train amongst the senior national team for five days at the squad's facility in Chula Vista, Cali.
"Everyone in the program is really happy for Jailene. She has developed and improved consistently in her second year with us. This stems from her passion for the game," Head Coach Ian Stone said. "We are sure she's ready to excel at the upcoming Puerto Rico National Team camp."
DeJesus appeared in all 19 matches for the Red Storm, including nine starts during her sophomore campaign. The midfielder logged 1,107 minutes on the year.
DeJesus found the back-of-the-net in a 2-2 draw against NJIT on Aug. 21, she fired 11 total shots during the 2022 season.
In a crucial BIG EAST match at home against Creighton, DeJesus played a ball to Ava Collins who found Brooke Boyd for a late-game equalizer with nine seconds remaining to tie Creighton at Belson Stadium, 1-1, on Oct. 6.
During her freshman season in 2021, she took the pitch in 14 games and tallied an assist in a road rout against Saint Joseph's, 5-0, on Aug. 21. The Reading, Pa., native played in two out of three matches in the NCAA Tournament during the Johnnies impeccable run to the Round of 16.
St. John's will ready for the upcoming 2023 campaign after finishing last year with a 7-5-7 record and an appearance in the BIG EAST semifinals this past season.
