Mario Pesca Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

The Bronx native tossed six scoreless innings against Big Ten foe Rutgers last week
QUEENS, N.Y. – Freshman Mario Pesca picked up his first career BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll selection with a stellar outing against Rutgers, as announced by the league on Monday.
The Bronx native put forth his best performance of the season, tossing 76 pitches across six scoreless innings of work. Pesca allowed just two hits against the 35th-ranked team in the nation in base knocks at the time, forcing seven popouts and 11 groundouts.
The right-hander retired eight straight batters through the middle of his outing, the most in any outing by the freshman this season. Pesca battled the pesky Scarlet Knights' lineup in his final inning of work, stranding runners on the corners in the sixth to keep the visitors off the scoreboard.
Pesca and the Red Storm return to action on Tuesday afternoon at Columbia with first pitch from Robertson Field at Satow Stadium slated for 1 p.m.
