Current St. Louis City SC defender becomes the second Johnnie to earn an MLS All-Star selection
QUEENS, N.Y. – Former St. John's men's soccer defender Tim Parker has been selected to the 2023 MLS All-Star Game, looking to take down European Premier League powerhouse Arsenal in a July 19 matchup from Audi Field in Washington D.C.
Parker picked up his first career all-star selection with the nod, joining St. Louis City SC teammate Roman Bürki as the first all stars in club history. The current defender of Major League Soccer's newest team joins former Red Storm standout Shalrie Joseph, who earned eight nods during his tenure with the New England Revolution, as the only Johnnies to earn a selection to the MLS All-Star Game.
Parker has been stellar across his nine seasons in the MLS, making starts in 224 of his 234 regular-season appearances for the Vancouver Whitecaps, New York Red Bulls and Houston Dynamo, including 17 thus far in St. Louis City's inaugural season. The Hicksville, N.Y., native tallied the club's first-ever goal in a 3-2 victory over Austin FC, finding the back of the net in the 24th minute off a corner kick.
The 13th overall pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft by Vancouver saw outstanding success while with the Red Storm, guiding St. John's to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances and a 2011 BIG EAST Championship. Anchoring a defensive line that saw 30 clean sheets across his 80 appearances in Queens, Parker also secured four All-BIG EAST selections, including a pair of first-team honors, and a spot on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List for the nation's top player.
Fans can watch Parker and the MLS All-Star Team take on 13-time Premier League Champion Arsenal on MLS Season Pass, presented by Apple TV+, on July 19.
