St. John’s Mourns the Passing of Robert Dillon

The former Red Storm baseball player passed on July 28 at the age of 72
QUEENS, N.Y. (July 31, 2023) – The St. John's baseball team, along with the entire athletic department and university family, mourns the passing of Robert Dillon.
The former Johnnie produced a .275 average, 11 RBIs and three runs scored in 18 appearances in 1974, helping St. John's to a 26-6 record and an NCAA Tournament appearance. Dillon was also a longtime supporter of the St. John's baseball team, earning the prestigious Jack Kaiser Advocate Award in 2014 for his contributions to the program.
Following his one season, Dillon continued his studies and received his doctorate in education from St. John's, going on to become one of the leading educators in New York State. Prior to his passing, Dillon served as the Nassau BOCES District Superintendent, a position he held since 2015.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3-8 p.m. at Fairchild Sons Funeral Home in Garden City. A funeral Mass will take place at St. Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre on Wednesday at 10:45 a.m.
