St. John’s To Welcome Seton Hall for Midweek Contest

The Red Storm went 1-1 against the Pirates in 2022
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's volleyball team will continue BIG EAST play when it welcomes Seton Hall to Queens on Wednesday evening.
The Johnnies will battle the Pirates on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in Carnesecca Arena. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+ with live stats available on RedStormSports.com.
The Red Storm and Seton Hall will battle for the 40th time on Wednesday evening. St. John's leads the all-time series 20-19 against the Pirates. At Carnesecca Arena, both teams are tied with 10 wins apiece.
The last meeting between the two programs was on Nov. 2, 2022, at Walsh Gymnasium, where Seton Hall took down the Johnnies in four sets. Giorgia Walther posted a double-double consisting of 18 kills and 17 digs. Erin Jones posted a career-high 27 assists.
The Red Storm took the first meeting in 2022 in four sets at Carnesecca Arena. Lucrezia Lodi notched her fifth double-double of the season off 13 kills and 10 digs.
In the BIG EAST opening weekend, the Johnnies went a flawless 2-0, sweeping both UConn and Providence in straight sets. St. John's now sits at 10-4 overall on the season.
Rashanny Solano Smith was named the BIG EAST Freshman of The Week after posting 28 total digs at 4.67 per set against UConn and Providence. Her 4.67 digs per set was the third-best in the conference last weekend. She currently leads the Johnnies in digs with 188.
Ludovica Zola was tabbed to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after posting 17 kills at a conference-high, 63 percent clip across its opening weekend. Zola also tacked on eight total blocks, five of which came against UConn, paired with two assists and a dig.
Magda Stambrowska posted the highest single-game hitting percentage in the BIG EAST this season when she swung at a near-perfect 92.3 percent against Providence. In the match, she tied her career-high in kills with 12.
Wiktoria Kowalczyk moved into sixth in all-time career assists last weekend, moving past Gabriela Petkova (2009-12). The Warsaw, Poland native tallied 72 helpers at a conference-best 12 per set to start conference play. Kowalczyk's 516 assists are good for fourth in the BIG EAST and 24th in the country.

Madeline Matheny is the team leader in kills with 124 at 3.26 per set, the eighth-best in the conference. She's also made an impact on defense, putting up 83 digs and 12 blocks.
Taylor Jakubowski and former BIG EAST Freshman of The Week Rylee Nelson pace Seton Hall in digs with 113 each. Jakubowski has also notched 183 assists, 12 kills and eight aces in 11 matches
