The Ottawa, Ontario native tallied three goals in as many games last week for his first conference weekly accolade
QUEENS, N.Y. – Redshirt junior Nicolas Fleuriau Chateau has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after a dominating showing in three games last week, as announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon.
Fleuriau Chateau earned his first career conference weekly accolade and earned the Johnnies second-straight honor roll nod of the season. Fellow attacker Max McNulty picked up the team's first of the season after a brace of his own in week one.
After missing significant time due to injury over the last 18 months, the Canadian striker unloaded a brace in a 2-2 draw against reigning Big Ten Champion Rutgers. With his tally in the 31st minute, Fleuriau Chateau registered his first career goal on a brilliant feed from McNulty and Antonio Biggs. With the Red Storm trailing late in the second half, the Ottawa, Ontario product raced through the middle of the field before ripping a shot past the Scarlet Knights' goalkeeper in the 84th minute.
Fleuriau Chateau continued to stay hot when the Red Storm returned to Belson Stadium for its home opener. Positioned perfect, Miguel Diaz launched a low cross through the wickets of McNulty, who redirected it to the feet of Fleuriau Chateau for a wide-open look and a goal.
With three strikes on the season, Fleuriau Chateau is tied for 13th in the nation and sits in a four-way tie with Georgetown's Jacob Murrell and Kyle Linares as well as Marquette's Brooklyn Meri for the BIG EAST lead. Efficient every time he steps on the field, the Johnnies' forward has also played just 106 out of a possible 360 minutes this season, the fewest by any of the conference's goal leaders.
The Johnnies return to action on Friday as they take on Saint Peter's in a 7 p.m. match from Belson Stadium.
