St. John’s to Visit Seton Hall on Tuesday at Prudential Center

The Red Storm men’s basketball team will square off with the Pirates at 8:30 p.m. on FS1
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's basketball team returns to action on Tuesday when the Johnnies travel to local BIG EAST rival Seton Hall (12-5, 5-1 BIG EAST). The Red Storm (12-5, 4-2 BIG EAST) and Pirates will tip-off inside the Prudential Center at 8:30 p.m. on FS1.
FOX Sports announcers John Fanta and Donny Marshall will call the action from Newark. An audio broadcast of the game can be heard on the LEARFIELD Red Storm Sports Network with John Minko and Tarik Turner. It will also be available on a variety of platforms including the Varsity Network App, TuneIn Radio, RedStormSports.com and the St. John's Red Storm mobile app. The radio broadcast can also be heard on SiriusXM channel 389 and the SiriusXM App.
St. John's looks to bounce back after having its four-game win streak snapped on Saturday in a heartbreaking 66-65 setback at No. 22/20 Creighton. Joel Soriano led the Red Storm with his 10th double-double of the season, finishing with 13 points shooting 5-for-11 from the field and 3-for-3 at the free-throw line to go with 11 rebounds. Daniss Jenkins posted with 11 points and five assists in the Red Storm's first loss in 2024.
The Johnnies enter Tuesday's contest having won four of their last five games. Over this five-game stretch that began with a win over Hofstra on Dec. 30, Jenkins has elevated his production averaging 16.6 points and 6.6 assists per game. The 6-foot-4 graduate student from Dallas also boasts an impressive 4.7 assist-to-turnover ratio. Brady Dunlap has been a key contributor in his last four appearances, as the 6-foot-7 freshman forward has posted 9.3 points per game and shot 53.8 percent (14-26 FG) from the field.
The Red Storm hits the road for the third time in the last four games and will play its fourth BIG EAST road contest when it visits the Prudential Center on Tuesday. St. John's looks for its second road win in its last three tries after previously defeating Villanova, 81-71, on Jan. 6 at Finneran Pavilion. Soriano posted 20 points and eight rebounds while Dunlap added 15 points and hit three 3-pointers in the win over the Wildcats.
Founding members of the BIG EAST, St. John's and Seton Hall will meet for the 111th time in a series that dates back to 1909. The Red Storm holds a 62-48 advantage in the all-time series.
The Johnnies will look to pick up their first win inside Prudential Center since Feb. 13, 2014, when St. John's earned a 68-67 victory behind a 12-point effort from D'Angelo Harrison. Sir'Dominic Pointer, Chris Obekpa and Rysheed Jordan each scored 10 points. Obekpa sank the game winning free-throw with 2.1 seconds on the clock to put the Red Storm ahead for good.
The Red Storm's last road win at Seton Hall came on Jan. 23, 2022, securing an 84-63 victory inside Walsh Gymnasium. Aaron Wheeler scored 17 points while Soriano finished with eight points, eight rebounds and four blocks off the bench.
Seton Hall has won four-straight games and seven of its last eight contests. The Pirates return to the Prudential Center after sweeping a two-game road stretch against Georgetown and Butler. In its last game on Saturday, Seton Hall rallied for a 78-72 victory over the Bulldogs at Hinkle Fieldhouse. BIG EAST Player of the Week Kadary Richmond led the Pirates with 24 points, 12 rebounds and five assists.
