St. John’s Heads to DePaul for Thursday Night Showdown

Red Storm will play second-straight road game in four days
QUEENS, N.Y.– The St. John's women's basketball team (11-9, 5-3 BIG EAST) will play its second road game in four days when it meets DePaul (10-10, 2-5 BIG EAST) on Thursday night at 8 p.m. ET.
The two conference foes will tip-off at Wintrust Arena on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports with Matt Rodewald and Kenny McReynolds on the call from the Windy City.
Last time out, the Red Storm battled Seton Hall erasing a seven-point deficit with 4:24 to play to force overtime. The Pirates outlasted the Johnnies in the extra period to claim a 74-66 victory at Walsh Gymnasium. It marked the first overtime contest for St. John's since Feb. 20, 2022 and the first against its local rival since Jan. 25, 1986.
Ber'Nyah Mayo exploded offensively in South Orange on Monday night going for a season-high 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting. The impressive scoring performance marked four-straight game in double-figures for the UMass transfer, who is averaging 14.3 points over her last four outings.
Tara Daye posted a career-high 12 points, four boards, two assists and two steals in Monday's contest. In BIG EAST play, the sophomore is averaging 7.0 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. Daye will make her return to the Windy City after appearing in 27 games at DePaul as a freshman last season.
Jillian Archer is coming off another double-digit scoring performance on Monday night and a team-high eight rebounds. For the third time in the last six games, the forward recorded four blocks against the Pirates. On the year, Archer is averaging 1.6 swats per game, which ranks fourth in the BIG EAST.
Unique Drake made her 50th 3-pointer on Monday night and continues to prove herself as one of the top sharpshooters in the country. The redshirt senior is shooting 41.7 percent from beyond-the-arc and her 50 triples ranks second most in the league and ranks fifth with 17.7 points per game.

Anaya Peoples leads DePaul averaging 17.1 points per game and has logged eight 20-plus point performances this season. Jorie Allen is one of the nation's top free throw shooters making 91.3 percent of attempts from the charity stripe, which leads the league and ranks sixth in the country.

DePaul will honor the memory of former assistant and Army West Point Head Coach Maggie Dixon during Thursday's game, who passed away in 2006 from heart arrythmia. St. John's has played in 12 Maggie Dixon Classic games in remembrance of the former coach.
