Peicheng Chen Wins Title at UConn Invitational

Red Storm finished third overall at GreatHorse
HAMPDEN, Mass.- For the second time in as many tournaments this season, Peicheng Chen claimed medalist honors winning the individual title at the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse on Monday.
St. John's finished strong once again continuing to climb up the leaderboard to tally a third-place finish. After being tied for ninth place following the opening round, the Red Storm carded a tournament-best combined team score of 5-over, 581, over the final two rounds in Massachusetts. The squad has finished top-three in each of its first two tournaments.
Chen captured the title after a blazing final round where the senior logged birdies over a 10-hole stretch. The Beijing, China native recorded a 2-under, 70, in the final round and a 4-under, 212, for the tournament. The two-time All-BIG EAST selection's individual title marked his third in his last four starts and the fifth of his career. He won the Doc Gimmler Red & Black on Sept. 17 by four strokes and was tabbed the conference's golfer of the week the following day.
Joseph Dolezal continued his strong start to his collegiate career with another top-10 finish. The Long Island product posted a 1-over, 73, on Monday and a 3-over, 219, for the tournament.
Tyler Clark and Frank Wu flew up the leaderboard during the final round at GreatHorse. Wu registered a season-low even par, 72, while Clark tallied four birdies en route to a 2-over, 74.
The Johnnies will hit the course on Oct. 13-14 when they compete in the Bucknell Invitational at the Bucknell Golf Club.
