Six new members were inducted on Saturday night
QUEENS, N.Y.- The St. John's athletic department inducted six new members to its Hall of Fame on Saturday night. The enshrinement ceremony took place at the D'Angelo Center on the St. John's University campus.
The Hall of Fame's induction class featured six of the best and brightest from St. John's Athletics history: Michael Dzurilla, Danaejah Grant, Pat Fogarty, Shalrie Joseph, Marsha Henry-Seagrave and Marcus Hatten were honored for their accomplishments on Saturday night for their illustrious careers in Queens.
The evening began with opening remarks from Vice President and Director of Athletics Ed Kull and an invocation from Campus Minister for Athletics Father Richard Rock, C.M.
All six newly inducted Hall of Famers took the podium to share remarks about their experiences and successes as St. John's student-athletes and how they shaped them beyond the gates of campus.
The Hall of Fame ceremony coincided with the University's fourth-annual Homecoming Weekend, where alumni from across the country came back to celebrate their alma mater. The Homecoming Weekend featured several athletic events with volleyball and men's basketball programs tallying victories and the men's soccer squad battled UConn to a draw.
Established in 1984-85, the St. John's Athletics Hall of Fame consists of nearly 200 members representing the majority of the Red Storm's current sports teams as well as discontinued programs. In addition to former student-athletes and coaches, administrators and honorary members have been inducted into the Hall for their valuable contributions and accomplishments during their time associated with St. John's Athletics.
