The Red Storm is riding a six-match winning streak
QUEENS, N.Y. – After opening BIG EAST play at 2-0, the St. John's volleyball team will hit the road to take on Xavier and DePaul this weekend.
The Red Storm will battle with Xavier at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati on Friday at 6 p.m. ET., before heading to Chicago on Sunday for a showdown with DePaul inside McGrath-Phillips Arena at 1 p.m. ET. Both contests will be streamed on FloSports and live stats will be available on RedStormSports.com.
St. John's went 2-0 in its opening weekend of BIG EAST play, taking down Seton Hall, 3-1, inside Carnesecca Arena before besting Georgetown, 3-0, in Washington D.C. The Red Storm is currently riding a six-match winning streak and is undefeated at 9-0 inside Carnesecca Arena for the first time since the 2007 season.
Giorgia Walther kicked off conference competition by being named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. Erin Jones joined Walther in receiving league honors, being tabbed to the BIG EAST Honor Roll.
Walther put together a magnificent showing against Seton Hall and Georgetown, tallying a BIG EAST leading 33 kills at a whopping 4.71 per set. The Italy product also registered 13 digs, four blocks and a service ace.
The senior led all hitters in the Johnnies' match-up against Seton Hall on Friday with 22 kills at a 33.3 hitting percentage to go along with seven digs. She went on to register 11 kills, six digs and three blocks against Georgetown on Sunday. Walther's 208 kills currently rank 31st in the country while her 237 points sit 32nd.
Jones continued her electric junior campaign by posting 29 kills at 4.14 per set to go along with a team-leading 33 digs at 4.71 per set, last weekend. Jones also notched double-doubles in both of the Johnnies' matches.
The standout led the way for the Red Storm against Seton Hall, posting 16 kills on a 36.7 percent clip and a match-leading 18 digs. She followed up her performance by notching her eighth double-double of the season at Georgetown with a match-leading 15 digs and 13 kills at a 34.6 hitting percentage.
The Albuquerque, N.M. native currently ranks fourth in points (279), sixth in kills (236) and 25th in aces (25), nationally, as of Oct. 3.
The Red Storm is set to visit Xavier for the 22nd meeting in program history on Friday before battling DePaul in the Windy City for the 32nd time in the all-time series on Sunday. Last season, the Red Storm swept both of its season series against the Musketeers and the Blue Demons.

Logan Flaugh serves as Xavier's setter and has racked up 471 assists at 10.71 per set which is the second-best in the BIG EAST. DePaul enjoyed a perfect 2-0 conference opening weekend, notching wins over Xavier and Butler, pushing its overall record to 10-4. Jill Pressly has been a hitting machine for the Blue Demons, totaling 222 kills at a BIG EAST leading 4.19 per set. Rachel Krasowski returns as the Blue Demons' libero, leading the BIG EAST with 243 digs at 4.58 per set.
The Red Storm will look for its fifth straight win over DePaul, as the streak dates back to the 2022 season.
St. John's will return home next weekend when it hosts Marquette on Oct. 11 and Creighton on Oct. 12 inside Carnesecca Arena.
