NEW YORK (Nov. 26, 2024) – St. John's volleyball standout Erin Jones was named a unanimous All-BIG EAST Team Selection, the conference office announced on Tuesday afternoon.
The announcement marks the 13th straight season St. John's has landed a player on the all-conference team. Additionally, Jones is one of eight Johnnies in program history to be tabbed to the All-BIG EAST Team multiple times.
After being a unanimous all-conference selection in 2023, Jones took on a massive role for the Red Storm, leading the team in points (513), kills (434), service aces (49), points per set (4.31), kills per set (3.65) and aces per set (0.41). Jones also ranked second on the team with 341 digs and 262 assists.
Starting in all 32 matches for St. John's this season, the Albuquerque, N.M., native led the BIG EAST in total aces, finished second in total kills and ranked third in kills per set. Nationally, she ranks 31st in points, 34th in aces and 45th in kills, as of Nov. 26.
Across the regular season, the standout registered nine triple-doubles and 10 double-doubles. Eight of Jones' triple-doubles occurred in conference play, breaking the BIG EAST single-season record that was set by Seton Hall's Shelbey Manthrope in 2014.
Jones secured her record-breaking triple-double in the Red Storm's season finale against Providence, last Saturday. The junior went off for 21 assists, 16 digs and 15 kills hit at 60.9 hitting percentage.
She is one of just five players in NCAA Division I to record nine or more triple-doubles this season. Additionally, she is the only player in the BIG EAST to ring up a triple-double during the 2024 campaign.
The two-time all-conference selection recorded double-digit kills in 29 matches, double-digit digs in 18 contests and double-digit assists in 11 competitions this year.
The versatile player set new career-highs in kills, digs and aces in 2024. She posted a career-best 23 kills and 18 digs against Fairfield on Sept. 18, to go along with a career-record five service aces against Marquette on Oct. 11.
The right-side hitter racked up an array of awards across the 2024 campaign, being honored by the conference on nine separate occasions. She was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week three times and was selected to the league's weekly honor roll six times.
Jones is also closing in on several career milestones at the end of her junior campaign. The New Mexico product has logged 959 career kills and is 41 away from the 1,000-career kill mark. She has also tallied 709 assists and 681 digs during her St. John's tenure.
The fifth-seeded Red Storm will take on fourth-seeded DePaul in the first round of the BIG EAST Volleyball Championship presented by JEEP on Wednesday. First serve from D.J. Sokol Arena in Omaha, Neb., is set for 3:30 p.m. ET.
