RV/RV St. John’s to Welcome Ivy League Foe Harvard

The Red Storm men’s basketball team begins a four-game homestand on Saturday against the Crimson at 5 p.m. on Peacock
QUEENS, N.Y. – Riding an eight-game home winning streak in Queens dating back to last season, the RV/RV St. John's men's basketball team (5-2) returns to the friendly confines of Carnesecca Arena on Saturday to host Harvard (2-5) at 5 p.m. on Peacock.
NBC Sports announcers Ed Cohen and Tom Crean will be on the call for the first of four St. John's regular season broadcasts airing on Peacock.
An audio broadcast of the game on the LEARFIELD Red Storm Sports Network with John Minko and Brian Mahoney will also be available on a variety of platforms including the Varsity Network App, TuneIn Radio, RedStormSports.com and the St. John's Red Storm mobile app. The radio broadcast can also be heard on the SiriusXM App.
After the contest on Saturday, St. John's fans are invited to participate in a free postgame autograph session with Red Storm players, in conjunction with Storm Marketing and Flat Top Fund collectives. Fans interested in participating in the meet & greet are asked to remain in their seats at the conclusion of the game before being directed to the Northeast corner of Carnesecca Arena to join the autograph line behind Johnny Thunderbird.

The Johnnies return to action after three games in The Bahamas, splitting its two contests in the Baha Mar Hoops Championship before falling to Georgia, 66-63, at Imperial Arena inside the Atlantis Resort. In its first game as part of the Baha Mar Hoops Championship, the Red Storm battled No. 13/14 Baylor in a double-overtime thriller, falling at the buzzer, 99-98, to the Bears. The following night, St. John's steamrolled Virginia, 80-55, in the consolation game of the four-team tournament.
Over their three games in the Caribbean, junior forward Zuby Ejiofor led St. John's with 17.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per contest. For his efforts, Ejiofor earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll this past Monday for the first time in his career. RJ Luis Jr. (15.7 PPG) and Aaron Scott (13.3 PPG) averaged double figures in the scoring over the team's three games in The Bahamas.
The Johnnies enter Saturday's contest having won eight straight games inside Carnesecca Arena dating back to the start of the 2023-24 campaign. St. John's returns to action in Queens for the first time since Nov. 13 when the team rolled to a 66-45 win over Wagner. In total, 10 Red Storm players scored in the victory over the Seahawks, including a 13-point performance from Luis and 11-point effort from Scott.
St. John's currently ranks second in the BIG EAST and 23rd in Division I averaging 16.7 fastbreak points per contest. The Red Storm also sits inside the top 40 in the nation forcing 16.4 turnovers per contest (25th in NCAA) and 9.4 steals (39th in NCAA) per game.
Harvard has dropped five of its last six games, including a 62-54 home setback against UMass on Wednesday at Lavietes Pavilion. Thomas Batties II scored a game-high 16 points for the Crimson, shooting 7-for-13 from the field with a pair of 3-pointers. UMass also outscored Harvard, 52-30, in the paint.
Batties (10.7 ppg) is one of three Crimson players averaging double figures this season, joining leading scorer Robert Hinton (16.4 PPG) and Chandler Piggé (12.4 PPG). Batties ranks second in the Ivy League with 1.9 blocks while Piggé stands third in the conference averaging 7.3 rebounds.
Following Saturday's matchup with Harvard, the Johnnies will host Kansas State in the Big 12 – BIG EAST Battle on Saturday, Dec. 7. Tip-off is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. with the national broadcast airing on FOX.
