St. John’s Tied for Eighth in Don Benbow Butler Spring Invitational

Xuan Khue Minh Doan tied for ninth place
OLDSMAR, Fla. –The St. John's women's golf team completed the opening round and sits in eighth place at the Don Benbow Butler Spring Invitational.
The Red Storm shot 33-over, 321 at Ardea Country Club to finish middle of the pack in the 14-team field in Oldsmar, Fla.
The Johnnies excelled on the par 5's in Monday's opening round shooting a 5.13 stroke average, which ranked second-best amongst the tournament field.
Xuan Khue Minh Doan as she has all season long continues to pace the squad after shooting a team-low 5-over, 77 on Monday. The sophomore checks in at tied for ninth in the 98-golfer field and led the field with 14 pars.
Angelica Kusnowo shot under par on the par-5's logging a 4.75 stroke average over her first 18 holes, including a birdie on the 514-yard 18th. The graduate student finished the day tied for 30th place after recording an 8-over, 80.
Individual competitors Laia Barro and Amy Kim are tied with their teammate for 30th place on the leaderboard. Both Johnnies fired an 8-over, 80 in the Sunshine State.
The final round will tee off at 9 a.m. and live results will be available on GolfStat.
