St. John’s Finishes Opening Day at Mountaineer Invitational

Red Storm in 11th place at Pete Dye Golf Club
BRIDGEPORT, W. Va.– The St. John's men's golf team finished out the opening day of the Mountaineer Invitational in Bridgeport, W. Va. on Monday.
The Red Storm sit in 11th place in the 16-team field after closing out the first two rounds at the Pete Dye Golf Club shooting a 37-over, 613. The Johnnies improved in the latter round of the day carding a 12-over, 300 as a team over the final 18 holes on Monday. All five players either matched or improved their scores in the second round.
The second round was suspended due to darkness with one group remaining and will be resumed at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow morning.
David Mlynek had a solid day on Monday shooting consecutive rounds of 4-over, 76 to finish 8-over, 152 and in a team-best tied for 39th place.
Thomas Finn shot the best round of the day by a St. John's player on Monday firing a 1-under, 71 during the second round. The freshman recorded four birdies during the latter 18 holes of the day.
Ryan Rittberger is tied for 50th after logging 10-over at the Pete Dye Club. The veteran shot a 3-over, 75, in the second and recording the team's lone eagle of the day on the 580-yard par-5 5th hole.
After the second round is completed, the final 18 holes from the Mountaineer Invitational are set to begin at 8:30 a.m. Live results will be available on GolfStat.
