Bianco led the Red Storm with a .352 average to garner the selection
QUEENS, N.Y. – Jess Bianco was named to the 2024 NFCA Division I Great Lakes Region Third Team, the organization announced on Saturday afternoon.
This marks the first time since current assistant coach Marissa Rizzi and her teammate Kaitlin Mattera earned nods in 2021 that the NFCA has recognized a St. John's player on an All-Region team.
Bianco enjoyed a spectacular sophomore season, leading the Red Storm in batting average (.352), on-base percentage (.427) and stolen bases (25). The center fielder ranked fourth in the conference in batting average and tied for second in stolen bases before being selected to the All-BIG EAST Second Team for the first time in her career.
After missing the final three regular-season conference series due to injury, Bianco returned to the Red Storm lineup in a big way during the BIG EAST Tournament. The Cherry Hill, N.J., native helped spark the offense by batting .357 with an RBI and a stolen bag across the four games in Providence.
In just two seasons in Queens, Bianco has totaled 68 stolen bases, putting her on pace to shatter Donna DosAnjos career record of 93 at St. John's. The lead-off hitter will also enter her junior season just four hits shy of reaching the 100-hit plateau in her career.
