Jarrard was selected to the first team; Serafinko and Bianco were tabbed to the second team
NEW YORK – London Jarrard, Ana Serafinko and Jess Bianco of the St. John's softball team were named All-BIG EAST selections by the conference office on Tuesday.
Jarrard was one of four players to be a unanimous selection to the conference's first team, while Serafinko and Bianco earned a second team nod.
The first-team selection marks the second of Jararrd's career after accomplishing the feat during her freshman season in 2022. Jarrard put together an impressive showing in BIG EAST play, ranking top five in the conference in batting average (.405), slugging percentage (.716), on-base percentage (.506), runs scored (19), hits (30), RBIs (22), home runs (6) and total bases (53). The shortstop earned three selections to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, marking the first time since 2018 a Johnnie has done so in a single month.
Along with being a leader in the conference, Jarrard etched her name in the St. John's record book by tallying 50 RBIs throughout the season, breaking Erin Burner's single-season RBI record of 49 which was set back in 2015. The junior also accomplished a couple of career milestones in the 2024 campaign, eclipsing both the 100-career hit and RBI mark in just three seasons in Queens. Currently, Jarrard sits just two doubles shy of setting the new career program record with 46 two-baggers.
Serafinko enjoyed a breakout sophomore season for the Red Storm after missing a large part of last year due to an injury. The Chino Hills, Calif., product topped the BIG EAST with 103 punchouts while ranking second with 89.2 innings pitched in conference play. Serafinko also did damage at the dish this season, hitting .283 with four homers and 12 RBIs against conference opponents.
The two-way standout earned BIG EAST Player of the Week once and Pitcher of the Week twice over the course of the season. She became just the second Johnnie ever and the first since Dawn DiGianno in 1992 to win both in a single season. Serafinko picked up her player of the week award after a historic game at DePaul, when she tossed a five-inning no-hitter and hit a grand slam, becoming the first Division I player since Texas' Miranda Elish in 2019 to accomplish both in the same game.
Despite missing the final three conference series with an injury, Bianco was tabbed to the second team after a strong sophomore season. The outfielder was one of the most consistent bats in the Red Storm line-up through BIG EAST play, logging a .400 batting average and 13 runs scored from the lead-off spot.
Bianco earned a nod to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll back on March 18 after producing a six-game hitting streak in which she went 8-for-16 (.500 AVG) with five runs scored, a double and a pair of stolen bases. The All-BIG EAST honor signifies the first of the centerfielder's young career.
Jarrard, Serafinko, Bianco and the rest of the Red Storm are set to open the BIG EAST Tournament against fourth-seeded Seton Hall on Wednesday. The first pitch is slated for noon at Glay Field in Providence, R.I and will be streamed on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports.
