The Red Storm will compete in four competitions this fall
QUEENS, N.Y. (September 16, 2023) – Head coach Dillon Pottish announced the seven-event fall 2024 schedule for the St. John's men's tennis team on Monday.
The Red Storm had a strong campaign in spring 2024, winning 21 matches and advancing to its fifth straight BIG EAST Tournament Championship match. Pottish is set to return eight members from last year's squad that earned the top overall seed in the conference tournament, including 2024 BIG EAST Freshman of the Year Armando Sotelo and two-time All-BIG EAST First Team selection Carl Gustavsson.
The Johnnies will open their fall slate on Long Island, competing at the Hofstra Invite from Sept. 20-22. The Red Storm will attend the Pride's fall event for the first time since 2019.
The following weekend, the squad will head to the City of Brotherly Love for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regionals, hosted at UPenn. The five-day tournament will kick off on Oct. 17 and wrap on Oct. 21. At last year's regionals, Gustavsson and Ryota Kaneda each advanced to the round of 16 in singles play, totaling five victories.
St. John's will continue its string of competition on Oct. 25-27 at the Binghamton Invite in Upstate New York. This will be the first time the Red Storm has participated in the Bearcats' invitational.
The fall season will wrap up the following week when the team returns to Philadelphia to participate in the Drexel Invite on Nov. 1-3, marking the third straight year the Johnnies have ended their fall season at the event.
The Red Storm's 2025 spring schedule will be announced at a later date.
