St. John’s to Close Regular Season against CCNY on Sunday

Red Storm coming off 2-2 draw against Butler on Friday night
QUEENS, N.Y. (Nov. 8, 2025) – The St. John's men's soccer team (8-5-4, 3-3-2 BIG EAST) will host City College of New York (CCNY) (2-10-6, 2-3-2 BIG EAST) for its regular season finale at 4 p.m. at Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium.
The game was originally scheduled for 7 p.m. but has been moved to a 4 p.m. kick-off in Queens. Sunday's contest will be streamed on ESPN+ with Kevin Connelly on the call. Live stats will be available on RedStormSports.com.
St. John's is coming off a 2-2 draw against Butler on Friday night in the BIG EAST finale. The Johnnies honored their eight seniors prior to the game. After taking the lead on an early tally from Guilherme Gomes, the Bulldogs responded with two goals in the second half just 6:20 apart to jump ahead, 2-1. The Red Storm played the final 25 minutes down a man however earned a draw as Gomes converted from the penalty spot to equalize in the 72nd minute.
The Red Storm outpaced the Bulldogs in corner kicks, 10-5, and outshot its opponent, 14-11
Gomes' second multi-goal contest of the season brings him to a team-best eight goals and 18 points on the season. The midfielder ranks 36th in NCAA Division I in total goals and fourth among freshman.
CCNY is coming off an appearance in the CUNYAC Championship game on Saturday where the sixth-seeded Beavers fell to fourth-seeded Lehman, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon.
Sunday marks the second straight year the two New York City-based institutions will meet on the pitch. In last year's contest St. John's routed CCNY, 7-1, on Nov. 4, 2024. Brady Geho registered a hat trick while Mateusz Marciniak logged a brace.
Following Sunday's match the Red Storm will await its fate for the 2025 NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament.
