Shaun McMillan Tabbed to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

McMillan slashed .643/722/1.286 with six RBIs, five runs scored and four extra-base hits against Ohio State and NJIT

NEW YORK – St. John's baseball infielder and designated hitter Shaun McMillan was tabbed to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.

The freshman erupted last week, slashing .643/.722/1.286 with nine hits, including two homers, a double and a triple, six RBIs, five runs scored and four walks against Ohio State and NJIT. McMillan produced multiple hits in all four games against the Buckeyes and Highlanders.

Against Ohio State, McMillan went 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and three RBIs. The slugger also mashed a home run in the seventh inning last Tuesday.

The Freeport, N.Y., native kicked off the Red Storm's three-game series against NJIT by reaching base four times on two hits and two walks with a run scored, last Friday. The following day, the slugger tallied three hits, including his first career triple, scoring two runs himself while batting in another in the Johnnies' 11-3 victory. He closed out the series on Sunday by ringing up a double and a long ball with two RBIs, a run scored and a walk in Sunday's rubber match.

On the year, the standout has posted a .440/.533/.700 slash line with 11 hits, a team-leading three home runs, nine RBIs and six runs scored across 10 appearances.

The honor marks St. John's second of the year and the first of McMillan's career. Last week, Jayder Raifstanger was named to the league's honor roll.

McMillan and the Red Storm will return to action tomorrow when they head to Long Island for a midweek matchup with Stony Brook. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. from Joe Nathan Field in Stony Brook, N.Y.
