Jace Jeremiah Named BIG EAST Player of the Week

The San Mateo, Calif., native slashed .478/.500/.522 with 11 hits, seven RBIs and four runs scored in a 4-1 week
NEW YORK – St. John's baseball infielder Jace Jeremiah was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.
Jeremiah, who has secured his first-ever conference honor, went off for a .478/.500/.522 slash line in the Red Storm's 4-1 week against Manhattan, Fairfield and Winthrop. The senior paced the Johnnies with 11 hits and seven RBIs, scoring four runs himself, smashing his first double of the season, working a walk and stealing a base.
The San Mateo, Calif., product began his week by making his first start of the season at shortstop against Manhattan, finishing the day by going 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs, a run scored and a walk.
Jeremiah continued to impress in the Red Storm's weekend series against Winthrop in Rock Hill, S.C. The infielder collected a pair of base knocks in the team's series opener, following it up the next day with three hits, including a double, four RBIs, two runs scored and a stolen base. The standout closed out the series with another two-hit performance alongside an RBI and a tally.
On the season, Jeremiah is batting .429 with 12 hits, seven RBIs and six runs scored across nine appearances and five starts.
The honor marks St. John's fourth BIG EAST recognition of the year. Jayder Raifstanger, Shaun McMillan and Tyler Longoria have all been named to the league's honor roll this season.
Jeremiah and the Red Storm will be back in action tomorrow when they head to Staten Island, N.Y., to take on Wagner. First pitch from SIUH Community Park is slated for 3 p.m.
