Max Amling and Armando Sotelo Named BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week

The duo picked up a pair of victories in the Red Storm’s wins over Monmouth and Yale
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Max Amling and Armando Sotelo of the St. John's men's tennis team have been named BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday.
Amling and Sotelo become the first Red Storm duo to earn the honor this season. Leonardo Mileikowsky and Ignacio Vinas were previously tabbed Singles Player of the Week on Feb. 3 and March 11, respectively.
The pair won their No. 1 singles contests in each of the Johnnies' road victories this past week, helping the squad down Monmouth, 4-3, and No. 43 Yale, 5-2.
On Wednesday against the Hawks, Amling and Sotelo played to a 6-4 triumph over Mateo Bivol and Louis Keller, clinching the team point for St. John's. The duo continued their strong play against the nationally-ranked bulldogs on Saturday, defeating Jim Ji and Jason Shuler, 6-1.
On the season, Amling and Sotelo have won seven matches together, all on the No. 1 court.
The Johnnies, off to their best start in program history at 17-2, will return to action on Sunday when they welcome Temple to Queens. First serve from the USTA National Tennis Center is set for 12 p.m.
