Peicheng Chen takes second place for fifth top-3 finish this season
FLEMING ISLAND, Fla. – The St. John's men's golf team finished runner-up battling through windy conditions at the Sacred Heart Spring Invite on Tuesday.
The Red Storm concluded the event in second place carding a 21-over, 597, at Eagle Harbor Golf Club in Fleming Island, Fla. The Johnnies, who led the nine team field after the opening round finished one stroke behind the tournament champion Sacred Heart.
Peicheng Chen finished the 36-hole event at 1-under, 143, to take second place, his fifth top-3 finish in six stroke play events this season. The senior shot 6-uder, 66, in Wednesday's bogey-free opening round.
David Mlynek turned in a team-low, 2-over, 74, during Thursday's final round. The junior slid into a tie for seventh place after concluding the event in the Sunshine State with a 6-over, 150.
Freshman Joseph Dolezal and Frank Wu slid inside the top-20 tying for 18th place after logging a 9-over, 153.
The Red Storm will be back in action next week at the Ross Collegiate Classic in Pinehurst, N.C. on March 10-11.
