St. John’s Continues Road Trip on Thursday at Monmouth

The Johnnies have just two matches left in the regular season
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's tennis team will travel to West Long Branch, N.J., to face Monmouth in its penultimate regular season match on Thursday. First serve from the Outdoor Tennis Complex is set for 3 p.m.
The Johnnies are 12-5, having won five of its last six, and have a perfect 5-0 in BIG EAST play this season. In its last match, the Red Storm earned a 4-3 comeback victory against Georgetown on Sunday in Washington, D.C.
Alicia Gomez, who earned the match-clinching fourth point in singles play for St. John's against the Hoyas, has led the Johnnies in her second year in Queens, winning 11 singles matches so far this season. In addition to her success in solo play, she has won 11 matches in doubles play alongside Victoria Papadopoulou and Noemi Babikova.
Sandra Dzhambazov is 10-1 in singles action, and Charlotta Buss is 6-1. and Nicoline Sartz-Lunde, Babikova, and Giulia Bizzari each have five solo triumphs. Bizzari and Buss have also been productive in doubles action, playing to a 6-1 record.
The Johnnies have earned multiple BIG EAST weekly honors over the last month. Babikova and Gomez were tabbed the conference's Doubles Team of the Week on March 17 and April 7, and Babikova took Singles Player of the Week honors on March 24.
Monmouth has lost five matches in a row and is 4-12 this season, 0-3 in CAA play. The Hawks are coming off a 7-0 home defeat to UNCW on Sunday.
Following Thursday's contest in the Garden State, the Red Storm will wrap up its regular season on Sunday when it heads up to Storrs, Conn., to face UConn. First serve from the UConn Tennis Courts is set for 12 p.m.
