St. John’s to Host Stony Brook for Senior Day

The Red Storm will honor its seven graduating players in a pregame Senior Day ceremony
QUEENS, N.Y. – Riding a four-game winning streak, the St. John's baseball team will host Stony Brook for Senior Day on Tuesday afternoon at Jack Kaiser Stadium in Queens, N.Y.
First pitch for Tuesday's contest is slated for 3 p.m. The game will be streamed on FloSports with live stats available on RedStormSports.com.
Prior to the start of the game, the baseball program will honor its seven graduating players: Jace Jeremiah, Jackson Tucker, Luke Orbon, Dylan Johnson, Jared Beebe, Joe Mascio and Sam Mettert, in a pregame Senior Day ceremony to recognize their contributions to the university.
The Red Storm (24-20, 9-6 BIG EAST) is fresh off a series sweep of Georgetown (W 16-5, W 15-10, W 12-10), taking all three games at Capital One Park in Tysons, Va. Jon LeGrande dominated in the batter's box across the Red Storm's 4-0 week against Iona and the Hoyas, with a .600/.632/1.333 slash line on a team-best nine hits, three homers, two doubles, eight runs, six RBIs and nine stolen bases. Shaun McMillan slashed .421/.500/.789 on eight hits, two homers, a double, eight RBIs and seven scores.
Across the series against the Hoyas, the Red Storm racked up 44 hits, 10 doubles and nine long balls. The Johnnies exploded for a 16-5 win in game one on Friday. McMillan had a monster night, going 4-for-6 with a double and a homer, a career-best five RBIs and four runs. LeGrande added four hits and four scores, alongside two homers and a double.
In game two, St. John's notched a 15-10 victory. Beebe went 3-for-5 with two doubles, four runs and two RBIs. In the 12-10 series finale win, Will Cowan rang up three hits, a double, a home run, three RBIs and two tallies.
Jackson Tucker will look to become the program's all-time leader in career stolen bases this week, after moving past Walter Heckel for sole possession of second place on the program's career stolen bases list. The speedy outfielder has totaled 93 steals across his Red Storm tenure after swiping three bags in Tysons, Va. He also passed Doug Latrenta to claim third all-time on the Red Storm career-runs list with 187 scores in his career after racking up four against the Hoyas.
As a team, the Johnnies enter the second to last week of the regular season ranked second in the BIG EAST and 78th in the nation with a .293 batting average. The team is also second in doubles (89), hits (455) and scoring (7.3 R/G), third in triples (13), and fourth in steals (78). Nationally, the Red Storm is 51st in triples and 70th in stolen bases. Beebe is seventh in the country with 21 doubles while LeGrande is 19th in steals (30).
St. John's and Stony Brook will meet for the sixth time in the all-time series on Tuesday. The squad from Long Island will also head to Queens for the second straight season. The Red Storm holds a 3-2 record over the Seawolves, most recently falling to Stony Brook, 5-3, earlier this season at Joe Nathan Field.
Stony Brook will head across Long Island to face off against St. John's with a 22-23 overall record and an 8-12 mark in CAA play. The Seawolves have lost seven of their last 10 contests, including their last three games.
