St. John’s Concludes Opening Day at Nittany Lion Invitational

Lily Hyunh sits in fifth place after shooting 1-under at the Penn State Blue Course
STATE COLLEGE, Pa.- The St. John's Women's Golf team concluded the opening day at the Nittany Lion Invitational at the Penn State Blue Course on Sunday.
The Red Storm carded a 35-over, 611, during the first 36 holes in State College Pa., on Sunday. The Johnnies shot a 17-over, 305, in the opening round and a 18-over, 306 to close the day
Yale leads the tournament field after logging a 5-over, 281, through 36 holes fueled by individual leader Mia Sessa of the Bulldogs, who shot a 6-under, 138, in Happy Valley.
Lily Hyunh led the charge sitting in the top-five in the 90-golfer field. The sophomore shot a 1-under, 143. The Chatsworth, Calif., native recorded 15 pars and a birdie during the first round. Over the final 18 holes, Hyunh fired a career-low 3-under, 69, sinking six birdie putts over a 10-hole stretch.
Freshman Laura Mizlerova registered a 9-over, 153, during her collegiate debut. The Prague, Czech Republic native sits in 41stplace following 36 holes of action.
The Johnnies will conclude the Nittany Lion Invitational for the final round at the Penn State Blue Course beginning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
