St. John’s Travels to Georgetown for Saturday Night Clash

Red Storm will play first road match in 28 days
QUEENS, N.Y.– The St. John's Men's Soccer team (4-2-3, 0-0-1 BIG EAST) will travel for its first road game in 28 days when it meets longtime conference Georgetown (5-2-2, 1-0-0 BIG EAST) on Saturday night.
The action from Shaw Field is set to kick-off at 7:30 p.m. in the nation's capital. The BIG EAST contest will be streamed on ESPN+ with Dan Helfrich and Dan Greaser on the call. Live stats will be available on RedStormSports.com.
The two most historically successful programs in the BIG EAST will meet on the pitch for the 43rd time with the series dating back 40 years. St. John's and Georgetown are tied for the conference lead with 16 BIG EAST Regular Season or Tournament Championships.
In the BIG EAST opener, the Johnnies tallied a 1-1 draw with Xavier on Sept. 19 to close a five-match homestand. The Red Storm found a late-game equalizer as Bjorn Nikolajewski recorded his second goal over the last three matches to secure a point against the Musketeers.
Nikolajewski, who missed the first six games of the season due to injury has come on strong for Dr. Dave Masur's squad. The graduate student defender has logged his first two goals in his collegiate career and is averaging a team-high 1.33 points per game.
The Red Storm defensive unit has been stifling allowing just seven goals through its first nine matches. The Johnnies rank top-30 in NCAA Division I and second in the BIG EAST with a goals against average of 0.78 tallying four clean sheet along the way.
On the year, St. John's is outshooting its opponents 129-57. In its last time out, the Red Storm dominated Xavier in the shot category, 27-4, marking its highest strike total since the program unleashed 34 at Villanova on Oct. 14, 2023. The Red Storm have turned in more shots than the opponent in eight out of its nine matches this season,
The Hoyas enter Saturday's match firing on all cylinders offensively, logging 18 goals over their last four matches. Georgetown has outscored its opponents by 16 goals during that four-game span and is 5-0-2 since its last defeat on Aug. 25 against Maryland, 1-0.
Georgetown ranks top-10 nationally in a slew of offensive categories including- goal differential (7th at plus-15), total goals (4th at 23), total points (5th at 68), shot on goals per game (5th at 7.8) and scoring offense (10th at 2.56).
In the last meeting between the two programs, St. John's downed then-No. 18 Georgetown in Queens, 2-0, on Nov. 2, 2024 to clinch the BIG EAST East Division Regular Season crown. The Johnnies lead the all-time series 25-13-4 but are seeking their first win in Washington D.C. since Oct. 27, 2018.
Following Saturday's match, the Red Storm will be back in action to face Akron in Ohio on oct. 3 at 7 p.m.
