St. John’s to Battle No. 4 Creighton in Marquee Matchup Friday Night

The Red Storm earned a pair of draws against top-five opponents in 2025
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's soccer team will head to Omaha for a Friday night showdown with a top-five opponent in No. 4 Creighton.
The BIG EAST contest will kick-off at 7 p.m. ET from Morrison Stadium. Jon Schriner and Avarie Howard will be on the call on ESPN+.
After last weekend's game against UConn was postponed until Oct. 27 due to the nor'easter, the Red Storm will return to the pitch for the time since Sept. 22 in a 3-1 setback at UNCW.
During the visit to UNCW Soccer Stadium, the Johnnies took the leader before surrendering the next three goals to the Seahawks. Camron Boumsong recorded the goal from the penalty marked in his 39th appearance in a St. John's uniform.
The Red Storm has made 15 consecutive penalty kicks dating back to Sept. 8, 2023 in a win over Saint Peter's at Belson Stadium. St. John's went 7-for-7 from the spot last season and has cashed in on both attempts this season. When Friday's game begins, 1,120 days will have passed since the Johnnies last missed a penalty kick.
St. John's attack has been powered by committee eight games into the campaign. Six players- Luca Fargnoli (6), Brage Bireklund Eie (5), Travis Thompson (4), Andrew Porucznik (4), Xavi Abeijon (4) and Camron Boumsong (4) have recorded four points or more. 13 different field players have logged a point.
The Red Storm will return to league play after starting BIG EAST competition with three points on the board with a 2-1 victory over Villanova on Sept. 18. The Wildcats took an early lead before second half tallies from Fargnoli and Kaief Tomlinson lifted the Johnnies to a victory in Queens.
The Johnnies will face their second ranked opponent of the season and will face three current top-six teams over their next five matches. Last season, St. John's earned back-to-back ties against teams inside the United Soccer Coaches poll top-five. In the first ever meeting between the two programs, St. John's defeated Creighton, 2-1, in the 1996 College Cup on Dec. 13 to move into the championship match. The Red Storm hold an all-time record of 5-5-4 against the Bluejays heading into the 15thmeeting. The conference foes will for the first time since 2023 and the Johnnies have gone unbeaten against Creighton in their last four contests.
