The Red Storm moves to 1-1-2 at the midway mark of BIG EAST play

CHICAGO – The St. John's men's soccer team picked up its second BIG EAST road result in as many tries on Friday afternoon, playing DePaul to a scoreless draw at Wish Field.

After playing then-No. 4 Creighton to a 1-1 draw two weeks ago in Omaha, the Red Storm (5-5-2, 1-1-2 BIG EAST) picked up its fifth point of conference play behind sophomore goalkeeper Nico Bezama's fifth shutout of the season. The West New York, N.J., native stopped all three shots on goal he faced from the Blue Demons (3-3-5, 1-1-2 BIG EAST).

Tobi Osoba, Erik Kringstad and Cayden Walton all played 90 minutes on the backline in front of Bezama. Camron Boumsong, Luca Fargnoli and Ander Gonzalez also logged 90 minutes in the draw.

Boumsong and Fargnoli led the way with three shots apiece for the Red Storm. All three of Fargnoli's tries were on target. Gonzalez took two shots for the Johnnies.

St. John's came out on the front foot, outshooting DePaul, 8-2, in the opening half. Six of those first-half shots were on target. With the wind at their backs in the second half, the Blue Demons outshot the Red Storm, 12-5, giving the home side a 14-13 edge for the game in that category.

Each team earned four corner kicks on the afternoon.

Next up for the Red Storm is a trip to College Park, Md., to take on the No. 14 Terrapins of Maryland. Kick-off from Ludwig Field is set for 7 p.m. on BTN+.
