SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The St. John's men's soccer team fell to Seton Hall, 3-0, on Saturday night at Owen T. Carroll Field.
With the loss, the Red Storm dropped to 5-7-2 on the season with a 1-2-2 mark in BIG EAST play. Seton Hall improved to 5-3-6, 2-1-2 in the league.
The loss marked the first time this year that St. John's had failed to secure a point in a BIG EAST road match, having previously earned draws against then-No. 4 Creighton and DePaul in the Midwest earlier this month.
Seton Hall scored twice in the opening third of the contest, finding the back of the net in the 16th and 30th minutes.
Down 2-0 at the intermission, St. John's came out strong in the second half, taking the first three shots of the period. Seton Hall countered with a goal in the 58th minute off the foot of Timothy Valentine to make it 3-0. Valente also assisted on both of the Pirates' first two goals.
Charlie Herley recorded a goal and an assist for Seton Hall. Joaquin Brizuela scored the Pirates' other goal.
Shots were 16-5 in favor of the home side, including a 10-1 edge in shots on goal.
The Red Storm earned five corners to Seton Hall's four.
St. John's will return to action on Tuesday when it plays host to UConn. Kick-off from Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium is set for 6 p.m. on ESPN+.
