St. John’s Sweeps Men's BIG EAST Weekly Awards

Adam Groves and Semen Agynskyy claim third weekly award of the season while Radomir Tomic secures his second
NEW YORK – On Monday, Radomir Tomic was named BIG EAST Men's Tennis Singles Player of the Week, while the tandem of Adam Groves and Semen Agynskyy earned Big East Men's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week honors, the conference announced.
Tomic posted a perfect 2–0 mark in singles play last weekend, defeating Creighton's Yuma Daijima, 6–4, 6–3, before outlasting Brown's Ivan Sodon in a three-set thriller, 7–5, 4–6, 7–6. The Zvornik, Bosnia and Herzegovina native improved to 8–1 in singles action on the No. 1 court this season.
The honor marks Tomic's second conference accolade of the season after previously earning Doubles Team of the Week recognition alongside Danilo Raicevic on March 2.
The duo of Groves and Agynskyy continued its dominant run last week, posting a 2–0 mark in doubles play. The pair secured a 7–6 victory over Rocky McKenzie and Jack McMahon of Creighton on the No. 2 court before earning a 6–2 win over Cole Oberg and Elliot Wasserman of Brown on the No. 3 court.
With the victories, Groves and Agynskyy improved to 13–0 on the season and collected their third Big East Men's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week honor of the year. The recognition marks the fifth career conference accolade for Groves and the fourth for Agynskyy.
St. John's returns to action when it hosts Monmouth on Tuesday at the USTA National Tennis Center. First serve is set for 1:30 p.m.
