Evan Chaffee Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Redshirt junior pitcher posted 1.35 ERA and four strikeouts against No. 22 Kentucky
NEW YORK – St. John's baseball redshirt junior pitcher Evan Chaffee earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference office announced Monday.
Chaffee took the mound for the second game of the three-game series against No. 22 Kentucky Wildcats baseball, pitching 6.2 innings and striking out four batters on 93 pitches. He allowed just one earned run, finishing with a 1.35 ERA for the outing.
Through 10 games this season, Chaffee has made three starts and logged 16.1 innings with a 3.86 ERA for the Johnnies. He leads the pitching staff with 12 strikeouts, and opposing hitters are batting just .266 against him, highlighting his effectiveness on the mound.
The southpaw captured his first weekly honor by the BIG EAST this year. The redshirt junior is the second player to be recognized by the league this season, joining teammate Jon LeGrande.
Chaffee and the Red Storm will travel to Penn State for a two-game road tilt beginning on Tuesday, Mar. 3. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on B1G+.
