This marks the fourth straight week at least one Johnnie has appeared on the honor roll
NEW YORK – For the second straight week, a pair of St. John's baseball student-athletes landed on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. Evan Chaffee and Adam Agresti were tabbed for their performances over the weekend, the league office announced.
Monday's honor marks the fourth straight week at least one student-athlete has appeared on the baseball honor roll and the second time since May 2024 that a pair of Johnnies have made the honor roll for two straight weeks. It also serves as the third time Agresti has been tabbed this season and the second time for Chaffee.
Making his ninth start of the season, Chaffee earned the win in Saturday's 9-0 victory over Georgetown. The redshirt junior tossed 6.0 scoreless innings, allowing just five hits and striking out eight for the second consecutive start. The southpaw held the Hoyas to a .200 batting average. In the second inning, he worked out of a bases loaded jam with a dramatic strike out to keep the game scoreless.
The Hamburg, N.Y., native collected his third win of the season. Boasting a 4.47 ERA, Chaffee leads the pitching staff with 44 strike outs to rank seventh in the BIG EAST.
Agresti once again propelled St. John's to another BIG EAST series win. The backstop batted .500 over the weekend with four doubles and crushed his 13th home run of the season, which ranks second in the league, while driving in five runs. The redshirt junior also drew six walks and scored seven times. In his best game, Agresti went 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles and three walks during Saturday's shutout of Georgetown.
Leading the team with a .331 batting average, Agresti has been a threat at the plate all season. The Yorktown, N.Y., product has an OPS percentage of 1.198 and leads the conference with 37 RBIs, while ranking third on the team with 40 hits.
Chaffee, Agresti and the rest of the squad welcomes Hofstra for its final home game of the month of April on Tuesday afternoon. First pitch from Jack Kaiser Stadium set for 3 p.m.
