The St. John's baseball program celebrated the graduating class of 2026 prior to Tuesday's contest against Stony Brook.

Graduate student Robert Jacobsen has played in 96 games over his college career, with a .324 average, 107 hits, 23 doubles and 50 RBIs. He'll graduate with his MBA in Marketing Management.

Rob Mansour has been the Red Storm’s everyday short stop since the start of the season. Playing in over 145 games, he holds a .282 career batting average, to go along with 130 hits and 19 RBI’s. He will complete his Masters of Professional Studies in Sport Management.

Conor Burns appeared in 39 games over his collegiate career, pitching 54.2 innings. Selected to the BIG EAST All-Academic team last season, will graduate this month with his bachelors in sport management.

A 2024 BIG EAST champion, Evan Chaffee has logged 191.0 innings and 159 strikeouts to during his three year Johnnie career. He is a two-time BIG EAST All-Academic Team selection and a member for the Chi Alpha Sigma National Honor Society. Chaffee will graduate next week with his degree in Finance.

Jon LeGrande wraps up his St. John's as a First-Team All-BIG EAST selection, boasting a .340 lifetime average and 86 RBIs to date. On the basepath, he sits tied for the ninth best single season performance with 33 stolen bases on 40 attempts last season. He will graduate later this month with his bachelor’s degree in sport management.

The lone four-year member of the program, Kyle Chase was a 2024 BIG EAST Champion and has appeared in 25 games, making nine starts. In his best outing, he recorded a win going 5.0 scoreless innings against Butler, while striking out five. Chase will graduate with his degree in sport management later this month.

Red Storm snap six-game non-conference winning streak

QUEENS, N.Y. – For the first time since March 24, the St. John's baseball team fell in a midweek contest, dropping a contest to Stony Brook, 7-4, on Tuesday afternoon at Jack Kaiser Stadium. Prior to the start of the game, the program honored eight members of its graduating class.

The Red Storm (26-22, 11-4 BIG EAST) rode a six-game midweek win streak into the contest, but Stony Brook (20-25, 12-12 CAA) applied pressure throughout the game to claim the wire-to-wire victory.

The offensive was led by Jon LeGrande on his Senior Day. Going 3-for-4 with a leadoff solo blast, the outfielder added a pair of hits and an RBI to his line. Sean Britt also went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles and a run, while Shaun McMillan and Jayder Raifstanger each logged a 2-for-4 day at the dish.

Joe Mascio made his second start of the season and Kyle Chase logged 3.0 innings of one-run ball in relief. Tommy Conley tossed 1.0 inning of scoreless ball, followed appearances from Brady Clark, Nick Gilpin, Carter Wall and Nick Romer.

Stony Brook struck first with a pair of runs to open the scoring in the top of the first inning.

The Johnnies quickly answered with a 357-foot solo home run to lead off the bottom of the first frame to make it 2-1.

The Seawolves pushed the lead back to two in the top of the second, 3-1.

St. John's once again answered the call in the bottom of the second inning. Britt singled to center to start the rally, advancing to second on a wild pitch and to third on a dropped third strike. Cristian Bernardini grounded into a fielders' choice to bring home Britt. LeGrande singled up the middle and scored on a hit and run off the bat of Raifstanger to knot the contest at 3-3.

After a four-inning deadlock, Stony Brook plated a run the sixth and seventh inning, before adding another two runs in the top of the eighth to push the advantage to 7-3.

The Red Storm attempted to rally in the bottom of the ninth. LeGrande doubled to deep right field, later advancing to third. He then came around to score on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to 7-4.

St. John's rounds out the year with six straight BIG EAST contests. This weekend, the Johnnies will travel for a three-game tilt at Villanova. First pitch from Villanova Park is set for 3 p.m.
