Agresti and O’Leary each pick up their second honor roll selections
NEW YORK – The St. John's baseball team had a pair of student-athletes on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, as Adam Agresti was named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Liam O'Leary was tabbed to the honor roll, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
This marks the first time that two Johnnies have appeared on the honor roll since May 5, 2025, when Jed Boyle was named pitcher of the week and Jon LeGrande made the honor roll. This marks the second player of the week designation on the season for Agresti and the second honor roll appearance for O'Leary.
The pair are also the first battery to claim a player of the week and an honor roll spot since Ben Adams and Jimmy Keenan did so on Feb. 19, 2024.
Agresti led the Johnnies offensively during a perfect 4-0 week, batting .421 with three home runs, four RBIs and scoring eight runs. The backstop also stole two bases and worked a walk. The redshirt sophomore hit two of his three homers in game one of the Seton Hall series on April 2, where he went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and knocked in three RBIs to help the team to the 8-2 win. It marked his second multi-home run game of the season.
During the doubleheader on Saturday, he went 2-for-5 in game one with a home run, an RBI and two runs scored in the 13-12 win. He closed out the series with a double and three runs scored in a 15-3 victory in game two to complete the sweep. Reaching base safely in the last 22 games, the Yorktown, N.Y., product leads the team in batting average (.324), home runs (12) and RBIs (32), while boasting a 1.157 OPS. Agresti ranks 22nd in the country in the long ball category and second in the BIG EAST.
O'Leary delivered a masterful outing last Friday, striking out eight in a complete game effort allowing just two runs during the 8-2 series opener against the Pirates. The junior became the first Johnnie to toss a complete game since Brandon Backman's complete-game shutout against Seton Hall on May 8, 2022. He owns a 2.79 ERA on the season, which currently ranks second in the BIG EAST and inside the top 100 in Division I. The junior owns the only complete game in the league this season.
St. John's is back in action tomorrow for a midweek road matchup at Central Connecticut State. First pitch against the Blue Devils is set for 3 p.m. from New Britain, Conn.
