Women’s Golf Sits in Second at St. John’s Invitational

The Red Storm trail Fairfield by one stroke heading into Tuesday’s final round
HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.- The women's golf team is sitting one stroke behind Fairfield for the tournament lead after Monday's first round at the St. John's Invitational.
The Johnnies carded a 34-over, 318, during the opening on a windy afternoon at Saint Adrew's Golf Club in Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y. The Red Storm sit in second place out of the 12-team field, trailing the Stags by a single-stroke.
The Red Storm led the field with a 4.28 stroke average on the par 4's and recorded five birdies as a group.
Sophomore Lily Huynh posted a team-best 6-over, 77, to tie for second place on the leaderboard. The Chatsworth, Calif., native flushed three birdies over a six-hole span on the back nine and sits three shots behind Fairfield's Chulathida Seema (+3) for the individual lead.
Kelly Wu also sits near the top of the standings checking in tied for fourth place. The senior logged a 7-over, 78, in Westchester. Pihla Pennanen carded a 10-over, 81, in her debut at Saint Andrew's.
Cathilyn Lee, Laura Mizlerova and individual competitor Charlotte Roodenburg finished knotted for 20th place carding 11-over, 82, during Monday's first round.
The Johnnies will return for the final round of action tomorrow morning beginning with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. Live scoring will be available throughout the final round on SCOREBOARD.
