The Red Storm have won three of its last four contests

QUEENS, N.Y. – Winners of three of its last four contests, the St. John's men's soccer team will venture down south to meet a nationally ranked opponent in No. 23 UNC Wilmington on Tuesday night.

The action will begin at 7 p.m. from UNCW Soccer Stadium in North Carolina and will be streamed on FloSports with Jim Whitmeyer and Marty Feurer on the call. The stream will also be accessible on the FloSports app on Amazon Prime Video.

Dating back to Sept. 6, the Red Storm (4-3-0, 1-0-0 BIG EAST) has won three of its four outings, including a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Villanova in its BIG EAST opener on Friday night. After conceding an early goal to the Wildcats, the Johnnies capitalized on a pair of their 13 corner kicks to secure a comeback victory in Queens.

The junior duo of Luca Fargnoli and Kaief Tomlinson tallied the second half goals off headers. Tomlinson's tally marked the first of his career and Fargnoli moved into the team lead in points (6) and goals (3). Ivar Na Aga, Camron Boumsong and Ander Gonzalez recorded assists in the BIG EAST opener.

Fargnoli was tabbed to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the first in his career, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.

After adding both tallies off corner kicks on Friday, three of the Red Storm's last four goals have been scored off free kicks or corners. Seven games into the campaign, 50 percent of the Johnnies' scoring production has come off of set pieces.

St. John's has boasted a balanced attack with 13 players recording a point this season. Five players- Fargnoli (6), Brage Birkelund Eie (5), Travis Thompson (4), Xavi Abeijon (4) and Andrew Porucnzik (4) have logged four points or more.

Goaltender Nico Bezama has played all 630 minutes between the pipes and made 16 stops. The sophomore has registered three clean sheets, which ranks tied for 22^nd in NCAA Division I.

Dr. Dave Masur is three wins shy of being the 13^th NCAA Division I soccer coach to record 475 career victories. Masur is the second active winningest coach in the top flight of collegiate soccer and picked up his 472^nd career victory on Friday night against Villanova.

The Red Storm and Seahawks will meet for the first time ever as St. John's will face its 127^th different all-time opponent in its 47-year history as a varsity program. UNC Wilmington is the second of three CAA opponents on the docket for the Johnnies. The squad fell to then-No. 16 Hofstra, 2-1. on Sept. 1 and will host Monmouth on Oct. 6.

The Seahawks are the second of five currently ranked teams on St. John's schedule. The Red Storm went 1-0-2 during the 2025 regular season against opponents ranked inside the top-20 of the United Soccer Coaches poll, including a scoreless draw against then-No. 5 Wake Forest in its last visit to the Tar Heel State on Aug. 31, 2025.

UNC Wilmington (5-1-1, 3-0-0 CAA) has boasted one of the best defensive units in all of college soccer. The Seahawks were the last team in the country to concede a goal holding opponents scoreless for 413 consecutive minutes of action to begin the season. The squad ranks fourth in NCAA Division I in goals against average (0.43), second in save percentage (.909) and 11^th in shutout percentage (.573).

UNCW began the year with a 4-0-1 record and entered the United Soccer Coaches poll for the first time in five years at No. 23. The Seahawks suffered their first defeat of the season at North Carolina State, 1-0, last Tuesday. The squad bounced back with a 2-1 victory over Campbell on Saturday to move to 3-0 in conference play.

Following Tuesday's road tilt, St. John's will continue BIG EAST action when it hosts longtime rival UConn for a 7 p.m. start at Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium.
