St. John’s Returns Home to Host CCSU on Wednesday

The Red Storm hold a 7-0-0 record against the Blue Devils all-time
QUEENS, N.Y. – After a three-game road stint, the St. John's women's soccer team will return home to host Central Connecticut State on Wednesday night at Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium.
Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. in Queens with Joey Jarzynka and Kevin Connelly on the call. Fans can tune into the contest on ESPN+.
The first 250 fans in attendance will receive a free pillowcase and are welcome to stay after the game for a viewing "She's the Man" on the big screen in the stadium.
St. John's (2-3-1) saw its three-match unbeaten streak come to an end with a narrow 1-0 setback at Monmouth on Thursday afternoon. The Red Storm fell behind on a penalty kick in the 22nd minute but remained within striking distance throughout the contest, mounting a strong second-half push that saw the Johnnies outshoot the Hawks, 5-3.
Kayla Bower has provided a steady presence between the pipes for the Johnnies throughout the 2026 campaign. The graduate student has played all 540 minutes in goal, leading the BIG EAST in minutes played. The Lincoln Park, N.J., native ranks second in the conference with 21 saves and has recorded two clean sheets, which ranks 76th nationally. Through six matches, Bower sits third in the league with 3.50 saves per game while posting a 1.00 goals-against average and a .778 save percentage.

The Red Storm has dominated the series, owning a perfect 7-0-0 record against the Blue Devils. The two sides last squared off in 2023, when Isabelle Aviza put the Johnnies on the board before Jordyn Levy provided the late-game heroics, burying the decisive goal in the 82nd minute to lift St. John's to a thrilling 2-1 victory in New Britain.
The Blue Devils are coming off a 7-6-5 campaign in 2025, which featured a run to the NEC Championship match. CCSU upset FDU in the conference semifinals before narrowly falling to Wagner, 2-1, in overtime in the title game. Entering 2026, the Blue Devils were picked to finish second in the NEC Preseason Poll and return 21 players from last year's squad while adding 11 newcomers.
CCSU opened the 2026 season by winning two of its first three contests but has since dropped three straight matches. Most recently, the Blue Devils suffered a 1-0 setback to Holy Cross at home on Thursday night.
