Miller On Michaelsen: 'Tom is our leader at the offensive end of the field. He has been since he arrived here. He sets the tone for us in the weight room. He can really put stress on a defense with his ability to get above the goal line. In my opinion, he is one of the toughest covers in our conference.'
As A Junior in 2007: Named to the All-ECAC second team, the first Red Storm player to earn all-conference honors ... was a three-time ECAC Weekly Honor Roll Selection ... the only Red Storm player to have scored a point in each of the last 12 games ... moved up to No. 9 on the Red Storm[apos]s all-time scorers list with 93 career points ... led the Red Storm in all three offensive categories with (22 goals, 15 assists and 37 points) ... had a career-best five hat tricks in the season: vs. Lafayette (March 6), Quinnipiac (March 13), Siena (March 21), Hobart (April 21) and Fairfield (April 29) ... was ranked in the NCAA top 100 in all three offensive categories all season ...ranked in the top 8 of ECAC players in points (2.85 per game), goals (1.69 per game) and assists (1.15 per game) ...started all 13 games.
As A Sophomore In 2006: Led the team in scoring with 21 goals and 10 assists, totaling 31 points ... took 74 shots and collected 14 groundballs ... registered two hat tricks for the season: in the opener against Robert Morris (Feb. 25) and against Hobart (March 22) ... tied for 10th in the ECAC in goals per game with a 1.43 average and points per game (2.38 per game) ... season best game against Robert Morris with six points ... earned the offensive MVP award.
As A Freshman In 2005: Played all 13 games, starting 12 ... tied for first in points on team with 25 ... second on the squad in goals with 17 and assists with eight ... netted hat tricks against Hartford (March 16), Air Force (March 26) and Hobart (April 23) ... also had a season-high six points (3 goals and 3 assists) against the Statesmen ... collected 23 groundballs ... was a two-time ECAC Rookie of the Week honoree.
Before St. John[apos]s: Earned All-America honors during his senior campaign at Bethpage High School ... a two-time all county selection ... set school record for most goals in one game with eight ... also wrestled and played soccer and earned all-county and MVP honors in both ... broke the Bethpage record for the most goals in a game ... had 103 career high school wrestling wins, putting him in the top 45 all-time Bethpage list.
Off The Field: Born September 14, 1985, in Bethpage, N.Y. ... son of Thomas and Claire Michaelsen ... has two brothers, twin brother Trevor (21), also a member of the Red Storm lacrosse team, and Tyler (15) along with two sisters, Stephanie (26) and Dawn (25) ... enjoys playing golf and online poker ... a sports management major.
