Spring 2007: Saw limited action with an injury ... posted an 0-2 record, with 0-1 marks at both the No. 4 and 5 positions ... won her lone doubles match of the season with Lauren Leo at the No. 3 spot.
Fall 2006: Sat out the fall season to recover from a pre-season surgery.
Spring 2006: Compiled a 17-6 overall singles record, including a 11-6 spring mark playing at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots ... went 13-8 in spring doubles play at the No. 2 spot with Barbora Blahutiakova. Fall 2005: Was the only member of the Red Storm to finish with a perfect 6-0 record (2-0 duals, 4-0 tournament) ... took first in Flight B at the Bucknell Invitational ... clinched the win for St. John[apos]s against long-time rival UMass (Oct. 5) ... was 5-3 in doubles action ... qualified for the ITA Regionals doubles bracket ... advanced to the second round with Alison Adamski ... finished second in Flight A at the Bucknell Invitational with Barbora Blahutiakova.
Spring 2005: Finished the season third on the team with a 9-2 singles mark ... played at the No. 4, 5, or 6 positions ... posted a perfect 6-0 record at No. 6 ... played in all three doubles positions ... recorded an impressive 11-2 doubles record ... was 6-1 at No. 2 and 2-0 at No. 2 with Lauren Leo ... went 2-0 at No. 3 with current head coach Allison Davidson.
Personal: Daughter of Nelly Borodina and Murman Chachua ... a sport management major ... was ranked No. 2 nationally in Georgia until the age of 16.
Off The Court: When Chachua began playing tennis, she played with both hands like tennis pro Monica Seles. When she[apos]s not on the court, Mariana enjoys playing pool, dancing and learning different languages. She lists her father, who was always a soccer player but pushed her to play tennis, as the most influential person in her athletic career. She is also involved with several community service efforts on campus, including midnight runs and visiting Momma[apos]s House. Nicknamed 'Ani', Chachua enjoys eating Chinese food and sushi and lists the New York Yankees as her favorite pro team. She was named a 2006-07 BIG EAST Academic All-Star.
