As a Junior (2023):
Made starts in six of his 12 appearances … tossed 30.1 innings with a 5.93 ERA … accumulated a 1-1 record and recorded one save … threw two innings, allowing just one hit and no runs against Richmond (March 26) … struck out two and did not allowing an earned run in three innings of work to pick up first career save against Villanova (May 7) … went six innings without an earned run while punching out four to claim the victory against Butler (May 20) … BIG EAST Academic Honor Roll
As a Sophomore (2022):
Missed majority of the 2022 campaign due to Tommy John surgery... Before being shut down for the year, tossed 5.0 innings against UNC-Wilmington (Feb. 20), allowing just one run on eight hits with five strikeouts.
As a Freshman (2021):
Made 12 appearances, seven of which were starts… went 1-2 with a 3.44 ERA… struck out 35 and walked 26 in 36.2 innings pitched… held opponents to a .237 batting average… over his final five starts, went 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA, tallying a .193 opponent batting average while striking out 25 in 24.0 innings of work… was especially effective in Queens, tallying a 1.57 ERA in seven home appearances (four starts) with 28 strikeouts and 13 walks in 23.0 innings pitched… was named to the final BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll of the season… gave up one run in his collegiate debut against UMass Lowell (Feb. 27)… fanned two in a scoreless frame against Sacred Heart (March 5)… logged another scoreless inning against the Pioneers two days later (March 7)… was tagged with the loss in his first collegiate start against Xavier (April 11)… allowed one run in 5.0 innings of work during a no-decision at Georgetown (April 18)… allowed just three hits and struck out seven over 6.1 scoreless innings against Seton Hall (April 25)… struck out six over 4.1 scoreless frames in the series finale against UConn (May 9)… picked up his first win in the season finale against Villanova, surrendering no earned runs and fanning a season-high eight batters in 6.0 innings of three-hit work.

The no. 6 recruit in the state of New York and the no. 323 recruit nationally according to Perfect Game… also a Perfect Game First Team All-Region selection… chose to attend St. John’s after turning down free agent contracts from several MLB organizations following the 2020 Draft… a four-year team captain at Cardinal Hayes… also lettered in basketball.

Tyler Daniel Roche… son of Jeniffer Gutierrez and Elliot Roche… has three siblings: Dalziel, Giara and Jeniffer… chose St. John’s because he said the staff “saw something in me that I didn’t see in myself”… lists his mother as the person he admires most and Derek Jeter as his favorite athlete.
