In just three seasons with the Red Storm, Irving has helped the Red Storm return to positions of prominence on both the BIG EAST and national stages. After going 20-13 in Irving’s first year on staff and narrowly missing out on an NCAA Tournament bid, St. John’s has rattled off back-to-back historic campaigns in Queens, winning the outright BIG EAST Regular Season Championship and the BIG EAST Tournament title in consecutive seasons. The Red Storm is the only program in the five-decade history of the league that can lay claim to that accomplishment.
Â
Winners of 30-plus games in back-to-back seasons, St. John’s is 81-25 (.764) with Irving on staff entering 2026-27. In 2025, the Red Storm won its first NCAA Tournament game since 2000. In 2026, the Johnnies advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 1999.
Â
Irving has seen numerous St. John’s student-athletes earn local and national recognition, including a pair of BIG EAST Players of the Year in RJ Luis Jr. (2025) and Zuby Ejiofor (2026). Ejiofor also won BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year, becoming just the second player in conference history to do so alongside UConn’s Emeka Okafor in 2004.
Before coming to Queens, Irving spent two seasons on staff at Iona with Rick Pitino. Irving was elevated to the role of video coordinator for his second season with Iona after previously serving as the program’s graduate manager for the 2021-22 campaign. Iona was tremendously successful during Irving's two years in New Rochelle, as the Gaels captured a pair of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) regular season titles (2021-22, 2022-23) and the MAAC Tournament Championship in 2023.
Prior to Iona, Irving worked in the NBA G-League, assisting basketball operations for the Texas Legends under head coach Bob MacKinnon. Irving also spent time working with NBA veterans, Eric Snow and former St. John’s standout Zendon Hamilton, and helped the franchise produce its winningest season in 2017-18.
During his time with the Texas Legends supporting basketball operations, Irving assisted in scouting, team practices, and individual player workouts for several prospects. Irving was promoted to the role of project manager for the 2018-19 season. That year, Irving oversaw the franchise’s internship program while coordinating game-day operations and running Legends sports clinics & youth basketball camps. In 2019, the Legends were named the NBA Gatorade League’s Franchise of the Year.
Following his tenure with the Legends, Irving returned to his alma mater, University of North Texas, as a graduate assistant for the men’s basketball program, assuming similar roles in scouting, player workouts and overall logistics for the Mean Green. North Texas had two all-conference players and the program’s first C-USA Player of the Year in 2020. That season, UNT won its first outright regular-season conference championship in 31 years while setting a then-program record with 14 league wins.
A native of Houston, Irving received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in recreation, event & sport management from the University of North Texas in 2017 and 2021, respectively.
