Started three of his 27 appearances… averaged 4.3 points on 40.6 percent shooting, including a 39.3 percent effort from deep… scored in double figures four times with one 20-point performance… scored 13 points in his St. John’s debut against Mississippi Valley State (Nov. 9)… connected on five of his seven field goal attempts, including three triples, en route to 17 points against Saint Peter’s (Nov. 13)… sank three 3-pointers to finish with nine points in a road win at Seton Hall (Jan. 24)… scored 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including a perfect 3-for-3 effort from deep, in a victory at Xavier (Feb. 16)… exploded for 20 points, going 5-for-7 from beyond the arc on Senior Night against Xavier (March 2).

Third Team CoSIDA Academic All-American… Third Team All-CAA selection… named the CAA Scholar Athlete of the Year and the recipient of the conference’s Dean Ehlers Leadership Award, presented annually to a men’s basketball student-athlete “who embodies the highest standards of leadership, integrity and sportsmanship in conjunction with his academic and athletic achievement…” played and started in 21 games, averaging 15.1 points per outing… shot 43.8 percent from the floor, including a 39.6 percent effort from beyond the arc… made 82.0 percent of his free throws… reached double figures in 15 of his 21 appearances with five 20-point games… averaged 33.0 minutes per game… scored a career-high 28 points three times against Iona (Dec. 5), Monmouth (Dec. 15) and JMU (Feb. 13)… ended his Hofstra career with 971 points in 90 games, shooting 43.0 percent from the floor, 40.3 percent from deep and 81.0 percent from the line over three seasons… averaged 10.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game for the Pride over his three-year tenure in Hempstead... wrapped his Hofstra career ranked 10th on the school's career list for 3-pointers made (170).

CAA Scholar Athlete of the Year and a First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree… started 33 of the team’s 34 games as Hofstra won a conference title for the first time in nearly two decades… averaged 10.6 points per game on 39.3 percent shooting from beyond the arc… also shot 80.6 percent from the line… connected on 66 3-pointers… reached double figures 21 times… finished third on the team with 5.5 rebounds per game and posted five double-doubles, including a 13-point, 12-rebound effort in the CAA semifinals against Delaware (March 9) and a 24-point, 12-rebound outing against Drexel (Jan. 25)… scored 20 or more points three times.

Averaged 8.4 points in just 23.9 minutes per game in his first year with the Pride… started 25 of his 35 appearances for the CAA Regular Season Champions… helped lead Hofstra to a 16-game winning streak during the regular season... shot 45.0 percent from the floor and 42.5 percent (51-for-120) from downtown... finished in double figures 15 times… eclipsed the 20-point plateau twice, scoring a season-high 22 points at Manhattan (Dec. 10) before scoring 21 in just 23 minutes of action against Elon (Feb. 7).

Played in 12 games as a freshman… averaged 0.3 points in 2.3 minutes per appearance…scored his first collegiate points by sinking a 3-pointer against Pepperdine (Nov. 23)… played six minutes and hit a free throw in a loss at Richmond (Jan. 11).
Before College
Earned honorable mention all-state accolades as a senior… led Cardozo to a 27-3 record and a Queens Division PSAL title… played for Head Coach Ron Naclerio, the winningest coach in PSAL history and the St. John’s baseball program’s career leader in stolen bases.
Personal
Tareq Coburn… has three brothers… enrolled in the Physician Assistant masters program… chose St. John’s because of the PA program… was enrolled in graduate school at St. John’s prior to joining the basketball team… joined the Red Storm because of the coaching staff and their emphasis on winning… said the St. John’s was always a “dream school”… has volunteered with a number of local area health organizations as well as Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD)… lists Steph Curry as his favorite athlete.
