As A Junior (2011): Played in all 14 games ... finished the season with one goal, 23 groundballs and five caused turnovers ... picked up a career-high four groundballs against Stony Brook (March 15) ... scored a goal against Rutgers (April 3) in the Big City Classic ... tied a season-high total with four groundballs against Providence (April 9).
As A Sophomore (2010): Started five games and played in 11 games ... recorded three goals and two assists ... netted a goal for the second year in a row in the season opener against Holy Cross (Feb. 20) ... posted one assist and two ground balls at Stony Brook (March 16) ... set a new career high with two goals against Villanova (April 17).
As A Freshman (2009): Played in 14 games ... scored three goals and notched three assists ... scored a goal, notched two assists and caused a turnover against Holy Cross (Feb. 14) ... caused a turnover and got three groundballs at Loyola (March 14) ... had an assist and scored a goal against Penn State (April 11).
At Massapequa: Played four seasons of lacrosse ... selected to the all-conference team in 2007 and 2008 ... earned the 2008 Massapequa Coaches[apos] Award ... also was named Merrill Lynch Player of the Week in 2007 ... was part of Massapequa[apos]s county championship team in 2006 ... also played three years of football where he earned scholar-athlete and all-county honors as a tailback his senior year ... played lacrosse for the Long Island Express.
Off The Field: Matt Ryan Hurst ... son of Mary and Chris Hurst ... has three siblings, Jessica (24), Christopher (22) and Allyson (17) ... brother Christopher played lacrosse for Loyola (Md.) ... an advertising major ... also enjoys golf and playing the piano ... listens to Jay-Z on his iPod to get ready for a game ... chose St. John[apos]s for the level of competition and the atmosphere ... notes the most thrilling moment in his athletic career as beating Georgetown University in the 2009 season.
